Octagonal mausoleum
Octagonal mausoleum, a tomb structure from the 1st century, located near the Double Gate in Pula, and close to the city walls. Today, only the remains of the lowest part, which were excavated in 1941, are visible. The base is circular in shape and consists of three steps.
The lowerst part is almost 150 centimeters high, and the whole mausoleum is thought to be around 920 centimeters above the ground. Inside the mausoleum, a cornice that had to separate the octagonal pedestal from the central structure, as well as the full core and upper part of it, was carved.
According to the size, it can be assumed that the core component of the mausoleum contained a burial chamber.
